I met John as a terrified seventh grader in Durand, when I was assigned to his pre-algebra class. He made no qualms about voicing his opinion of kids who were less than high school age. To him, they were not real people. And if he had previously taught relatives of yours, he probably was n9t goung to like you either. Being a Steward, i knew I was screwed. I managed to go through 2 and a half years of his classes befire i needed help with something, because even if there was 10 ways to do something, it had to be done HIS way. Luckily I was an actual person by then, being a 9th grader. He made it known that he knew I had never asked him anything before and I told him that he scared me so badly thst first day of pre-algebra that I still did not want to draw attention to myself by asking for help. After that, and while working in the office eith Carol my Senior year, we developed a good friendship. He even tried to tell me I was still going to regret not taking Calculus at my tech school graduation, lol. He was a great man and DHS was lucky to have him for so many years. Carol, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
