Mr Bobby Gene Messer's Obituary
Mr. Bobby Gene Messer, age 81, of Del Rio was surrounded by family when he went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, December 23, 2022.
He was a faithful member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Adult Sunday School Teacher for 55 years. He farmed and operated Twin Valley Saw Mill for a large portion of his life and he also retired from Great Lakes Chemical Plant.
He was preceded in death by his parents Brown and Lucy Willis Messer; father-in-law and mother-in-law Hubert and Louvenia Hill; brother-in-law Luther Henderson; sister-in-law Thelma Hill and a special friend Pastor Bill Murr.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Thelma Messer; children Kathy (Darius) Bible, Ricky (Tabi) Messer, J.D. (Tammy) Messer and Teresa (Jeff) Williams; grandchildren Dusty (Tonya) Williams, Megan (Kenny) Burgin, Shane (Holly) Messer, Darissa (Jason) Collins, Kayla (Gene) Warren, Chelsey Williams (Tyler Roberts) and Emily Messer; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Clyde (Joyce) Messer; brothers-in-law Hubert Hill Jr. and Burnett Ray (Betty) Hill and special sister-in-law Frances Henderson all of Del Rio; sisters Sue (Chester) Suggs of Newport and Mary (Warren) Stewart of Sistersville, WV. Additional survivors include several nieces, nephews, friends and a host of church family.
The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, December 28, 2022 at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev Fred Cagle officiating. Family and friends will meet at Piney Grove Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Thursday morning for the 11:00 a.m. interment. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Piney Grove Baptist Church prior to the service.
