Bruce Williams Sr., age 91, of Newport, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare Systems. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents Harrison and Ida Williams, brothers Will Large, Isaac Williams, Carl Williams, Blaine Williams and sister Dora Wilson.Survivors include his wife of 70 years Glennie Williams, daughters Margaret Williams (Donnie), Ida Poe, sons Bruce "Toby" Williams Jr. (Barbara), Chan Williams (Thelma), grandchildren Kendra Shropshire, Dwayne Williams, Derek Poe, Allison Williams, Mark Samples, great-grandson Lukas Williams, sister Ina Holt (Wes), special friends Arthur and Jackie Baxter, Reva Ramsey along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2012 in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Brown Funeral Home is honored to serve the Williams family.
