Mr. Charles E. Palmer's Obituary
Mr. Charles Everette Palmer, age 75, of Newport, passed away Sunday morning, April 23, 2017 at Newport Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Palmer was a member of First Baptist Church and had served as a deacon. He was also a former Newport City Alderman and served on the Planning Commission for the City of Newport. He was a former long time employee of Stokely Van Camp/Quaker Oats and Brockwell Construction.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alta and Everette Palmer and a brother Myron Palmer.
Survivors include his wife Lavonia Palmer of Newport, Children Sandy (David) Bradshaw of Oak Ridge and Bill (Susan) Palmer, of Newport; grandchildren Caroline Bradshaw and Elizabeth Bradshaw both of Oak Ridge, Alex Palmer and Hannah Palmer, both of Newport; brothers Jim Palmer of Morristown, Fred Palmer of Newport, Gary (Rhonda) Palmer of Lexington, KY, Danny Palmer of Cleveland, OH, and Everett C. (Claudette)Palmer of Ida, MI; sister Myrna Palmer of Cleveland, OH; brothers-in-law Bobby (Lola) Parks, Jack (Annette) Parks and Jerald (Linda) Parks all of Parrottsville. Additional survivors include many beloved nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017, in the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rich Lloyd and Rev. Ken Schetter officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Costner-Maloy prior to the service.
Family and Friends will meet at 9:45 a.m. Friday at Union Cemetery for the 10:00 a.m. interment.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Building Fund at First Baptist Church Newport, 261 E. Broadway, Newport, TN 37821.
