David Medford Travis passed from this world Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Laughlin Memorial Hospital in Greeneville. He was born March 4, 1937 in Greene county and attended Easterly School near the Oven Creek Community. He was a graduate of Parrottsville High School. He was employed by Rhyne Clock Company for 50 plus years.He was preceded in death by his parents Medford Oral and Mary Smith Travis; father and mother-in-law Buford and Pearl Smith and brother-in-law Billy Morris Stepp.He is survived by his wife Billye Ruth Smith Travis; brother Jim (Jewelene) Travis; sister Bogle (A. L.) Hazelwood; devoted sisters-in-law Scottie (Ronnie) Rader and Lucy Faye Stepp; brother-in-law Walter "Snuffy" Evelyn Smith and Roger (Kathy) Smith; several beloved nieces and nephews Anna Crumbley, Ann Tritt, Kay Dover, Karen Travis, Tracy Stepp, Tony Stepp, Wayne Rader, Travis Rader and Jeff Hazelwood; great nephews Lucas Stepp and Colin Stepp ; special friends Charles and Gail Gregg and many others.Funeral services will be held at 8:00 PM Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM prior to the service. The family will meet at 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Oven Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery for the graveside service.
