Mr. Donald Eugene Boley's Obituary
Mr. Donald Eugene Boley, age 86, of Newport, passed away Thursday morning, May 25, 2017 at Newport Medical Center.
He attended Tennessee Tech on a football scholarship and graduated with a degree in Education. Upon graduation, Don served his country in the United States Army. After his time in the Army, he went on to serve his community. Don was a teacher and football coach at Cocke County High School and a principle at Del Rio Elementary School. He also worked for ten years as the personnel manager at Vernco and held the position of Cocke County Clerk for twenty years before retiring in 1994.
Don was a member of Providence Baptist Church. He was also an avid fisherman and longtime member of the Bassmasters Club. In addition, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club.
He was preceded in death by his son Christopher Boley; brother Edward Boley and multiple half-brothers and half-sisters,
Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years Emma Jean Boley of the home; daughters Kimberly (John) Whitmore of Johnson City and Alicia (Scott) Stinson of Del Rio; grandchildren Jodi (Jeff) Holland of Greeneville, Christopher Whitmore of Johnson City, Emily Stinson and Tyler Stinson both of Del Rio and sister-in-law Carolyn Boley of Roanoke, Virginia
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p. m. Sunday afternoon, May 28, 2017 at Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Gorrell officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to service.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Newport Medical Center and Smoky Mountain Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Providence Baptist Church or the charity of one’s choice.
