I never had the pleasure of meeting my great-aunt Edna, but my mom, Frances Derry Wampler, talked of her often. My sister, did meet her as a small child. We wanted to take mom to see her Aunt Edna this past summer, but unfortunately, mom passed away on June 29th. I guess she is seeing her now, in heaven, with the rest of the family gone before them. Aunt Edna was my great-aunt. My mother, Christine Derry Taylor, passed away in January 2001 not long after Aunt Edna moved to Nashville. They had always been very close. I had the privilege of spending a day in the summer of 2000 driving the two of them around Cocke County, seeing relatives, sightseeing places from their memories of growing up in the area, and visiting cemetaries where family members were buried. Aunt Edna was a joy to be around, feisty and in excellent health. My love and prayers to all of our family.
