Enrique Fernando Gonzalez-Rodriguez, 76, also known as "Gonzo" or "Jim", passed away on January 3 at Newport Medical Center, where he had worked for 38 years as a nurse and as house supervisor. Gonzalez was born September 21, 1938 in Guayama, Puerto Rico. He is survived by his wife Sheila McFeeture Gonzalez, of Newport. Gonzalez is also survived by two daughters and three grandchildren: Rosita Gonzalez, husband Jonathan Sleeman, and children Noah and Mia, of Madison, Wisconsin. Angela Gonzalez, husband Ryan Dungy, and daughter Mara, of Spokane, Washington. He is also survived by his stepdaughter Brandi Holt. His five surviving sisters include Marta Pabon, Pilar Rosa, Carmen "Cuchy" Rivera, and Lizzette "Lizzie" Ortiz, all of Puerto Rico. A Master Sergeant in the US Army, Gonzalez bravely served 20 years including in Korea, Japan, Germany, and Vietnam.He was predeceased by his parents Enrique F. Gonzalez and Manuelita Rodriguez and his brother Rafael E. Gonzalez-Rodriguez, Puerto Rico, and by his first wife Frances Taylor Gonzalez, of Newport.Services provided by Brown Funeral Home on Thursday, January 8.
