Obituary
Fred Lewis Pack, age 93 of Newport, passed away on the morning of Sunday, June 5, 2022.
Mr. Pack was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, who retired after 20 years of service. In the 1950s, Fred was one of three X-Ray technicians who determined the test criteria for the Air Force examination. While stationed at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, South Carolina, Fred met the love of his life, Annie Drennan Scott, an immigrant from Northern Ireland. After serving his country, he returned to Newport, and entered into the sales industry. He was also the owner of Power Pack Batteries, a business that he built from the ground up. His passions included fishing, farming, and beekeeping. He was also a Mason & Shriner.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nathan & Lena Pack; his beloved wife, Ann; children, Karen Gail Pack & Alice Ann Pack; siblings, Nathan, Jr., Leonard (Juanita), Frank (Henrietta), & Billy Pack and Virginia Ross; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Pace Pack.
He is survived by his children, Fred Lewis Pack, Jr. (Susan), Drennan Pack, Bruce Pack, Brian Pack, Debra Pack Nichols (David); grandchildren, Brandi Pack Mallard (Ben), Brian Pack, Jr., Sheree Pack Singh (Sid), Hilary Pack, & Tara Nichols; great-grandchildren, Breck Mallard, Blair Mallard, & Savi Singh; brother-in-law, Gene Ross; and special friends of the family, Marcia Pack & Janice Eagle; as well as several other friends and family members.
Pastor Jeff Miller will officiate the funeral service at 7PM Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5PM to 7PM prior to the service. Burial will take place with military honors at 12 Noon, Friday, June 10, 2022 at the Sand Hill Cemetery in Del Rio.
