Mr. Garry Louis Grooms Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Garry Louis Grooms Sr., age 69, of Newport, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Sunday, September 23, 2018 at his home. He had been in declining health for several years.
He was born in Newport and had moved to Florida, during his teenage years, where he began his career at Pioneer Growers and had worked at several packing houses. After his retirement he moved back to Newport.
He was preceded in death by his father Gerald C. Grooms;
Survivors include his mother Floy Large Grooms; sons Garry L. (Carla Sane) Grooms Jr. and Jerry T. (Melissa Fine) Grooms all of Newport and Johnny M. (Rebecca Swan) Grooms of Alexandria, Virginia; granddaughters Ashlee Grooms of Bristol, Tennessee and Carolann Grooms and grandson Colby Grooms both of Newport; Additional survivors include several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, September 25, 2018 in the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Swann officiating. Inurnment will be in Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.Tuesday evening at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charity of your choice in memory of Mr. Garry L. Grooms Sr.
