Rev. George Askew, age 74, of White Pine, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024 a Tennova Newport Medical Center.
He served 46 years as the Pastor at Mt. Zion Church of God in White Pine.
He was preceded in death by his son David Vinson Askew; wife Betty L. Gibbons Askew; parents George and Verna Askew; infant brother Jeffery Askew, brother Danny Ray Askew and a brother-in-law Steve Keller.
Survivors include his wife Linda Askew of the home; children Jonathan (Melanie) Askew of Newport, Justin Reed and Jeremy Reed both of White Pine; grandchildren Cole Askew of Newport and Jeremiah Askew of White Pine; sisters Darnell (Bobby) Shelton, Nancy (Ron) Rice and Karen Keller all of Newport, Kay Myers (Bob Weishaupt) of Dandridge; and a brother Thomas Askew of Newport. Additional survivors include several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will host a Celebration of Life Service at a later date.
