George W. Shelton, age 53, of Del Rio, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Newport Medical Center. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father R.J. Shelton, step-father Virgil Mathis, sister Ellen Louise Shelton.Survivors include his mother Roella Mathis, daughters Jennifer Blevins (Andy), LeAnn Barnes, wife Janet Shelton, grandchildren Emma Blevins, Drew Blevins, Chesnie and Lexie Barnes, brothers R.L. Shelton, Darrell Shelton, R.J Shelton, Danny Shelton, sisters Margaret McMahan, Peggy Sue Henderson along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.Funeral service will be 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Murr officiating. Interment will follow in Piney Grove Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at Piney Grove Baptist Church.Brown Funeral Home is honored to serve the Shelton family.
