Mrs. Hazel E. Gowan
01/27/1931 – 10/25/2023
Mrs. Hazel Ellen Bumgarner Gowan, age 92, of Hot Springs, NC, passed away Wednesday morning, October 25, 2023 at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville.
She attended Bonnie Hill Church faithfully, she was an enthusiastic gardener and she loved feeding the birds and going for a walk on a sunny day.
She was preceded in death by her husband Claud Gowan, Sr.; parents Lee and Alice Gregg Bumgarner; sister Myrtle Roberts and brothers Wesley, YJ, Wallace, Emit, Lester, Ferman, Orville and Paul Bumgarner.
Survivors include her son Claud (Kay) Gowan, Jr. of Rutledge; grandsons Dr. Matt (Jennifer) Gowan of Rutledge; Adam (Megan) Gowan of Madison, Al; great-grandchildren Robert Gowan, William Gowan, Aidan Gowan, Olivia Gowan and Audrey Gowan. Additional survivors include nieces, nephews and friends.
Family and friends will meet at 2:15 p.m. Monday, October 30, 2023 at Fairview Methodist Church Cemetery (Hot Springs, NC) for the 2:30 p.m. graveside service with Pastor Lt. Kellie Cantrell Silvers officiating.
