J. C. Caldwell, age 77, of Newport passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Walter George Veterans Hospital in Asheville, NC after a lengthy battle with cancer.He retired from the United States Marine Corp after 20 years of service.He was preceded in death by his parents John and Lois Caldwell; brothers Ed and K. D. Caldwell.He is survived by his wife Annette, children Mike (Sharon) of Lynn Haven, FL, Richard (Patricia) of Newport. Grandchildren Lindsey Caldwell of Newport, Travis Caldwell on active duty with the United States Marine Corp ath Camp Pendleton, California, Zack Owens of Newport, sister Ada Willett of Meadow Fork, NC, several nieces, nephews and special family friend Lisa Caldwell of Newport.A memorial service will be Saturday January 25, 2014 at the Brown Funeral Homke Chapel with visitation from 1 pm with service beginning at 2 pm.Special thanks to the Smoky Mountain Home Health, VA Hospital and Jimmy and Christie Fish of the Fish Farms..Brown Funeral Home is honored to serve the Caldwell family.
