Ms. Jessica N. Shelton's Obituary
Ms. Jessica Norwood Shelton, age 35, of Newport, passed away Thursday evening, January 7, 2001 at Newport Medical Center.
She was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dennis and Mary Sue Cogdill Norwood, grandparents Roy and Artemus Cogdill and JR and Desmon Norwood, and uncle Mike Norwood.
Survivors include her son Hunter Austin Shelton, the absolute light of her life, sister Vanessa Dennis of Newport, aunts Pat Norwood Purkey of Newport and Helen Gilliam of Old Fort, NC, uncle W.T. Cogdill of Newport, special nieces Jennifer Self Pierce of Knoxville and Jaylen Self of Newport, special cousins Shannon Ellison Sexton of New Market, Nicole Bolick of Marion, NC, Amy Cogdill Cheek and Chasity Cheek both of Knoxville, special friend Brian Pierce of Newport, special family friends Harold and Marcie Crum and Holly Tritt all of Newport. Additional survivors include a host of other family and friends.
The family will host a Celebration of Life Service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Costner-Maloy Funeral Home to help cover the final expenses.
