Mr. John W. Pound's Obituary
Mr. John Wiser Pound, age 75, of Parrottsville passed away Monday, October 28, 2013, at his home.
John was born in Sullivan, IL on February 8, 1938. He served three years in the United States Army and was a graduate of Sullivan High School in Sullivan, IL and of the University of Illinois. John also attended Belmont College in Nashville, TN. He was a Lab Technician at Great Lakes Chemical in Newport for sixteen years and taught math at Cocke County High School in Newport for nine years. John was a member of 1st Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Knoxville, TN. He loved the Lord and loved studying with his Sunday School class.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Wiser and Helen Grace Pound.
He is survived by wife, Charlene of the home, daughter and son-in-law Sandy and John Babel of Johnson City, TN, Grandsons; Brandon Ealy of Leonard TX, Ryan Ealy of Johnson City, Matt Babel of Jonesborough, and AJ Babel of Johnson City, brothers and sisters-in-law Joe and Joan Pound of Sullivan, IL, Jack and Gisela Pound of Urbana, IL, brother Jim Pound of Savoy, IL, sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and Warren of Grants Pass, OR, and June and Chuck of Champaign, IL. Additional survivors include numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Forbes officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m prior to the service.
