Mr. Lewis C. Cagle
8/27/1938—9/26/2023
Mr. Lewis Cephas Cagle “Pop”, member of Asbury Church of Christ, was a hardworking son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was born on August 27, 1938, in a one-room cabin in the Appalachia Mountains. He grew up in a family of nine children, and learned the value of hard work and helping others from a young age. After marrying Georgia, the love of his life, they moved to Knoxville, TN. He was a devoted and caring father. Lewis had many trades in his life. He was in retail for over 40 years beginning with Halls and Hall Brown Clothing Stores to becoming the owner of Raley’s Clothing Store until retirement. Lewis had a keen eye for finding hidden gems in old cars, trucks, buses, and tractors. He would often strike up conversations with strangers to inquire about their intentions with a vehicle, eager to uncover its potential value. He lived an exciting life full of adventure and had a talent for making friends wherever he went. Lewis will always be remembered for his stories, kindness, and unwavering work ethic. Most importantly his willingness to help others.
Lewis is now reunited with his beloved wife of 60 years, Georgia Cagle; son Stacy Cagle; son-in-law James Terry; parents Ottie and Mae Cagle; brothers Guynn, Garvis and Joey Cagle; and sisters Addie Caldwell and Marzelle Reece.
Lewis will be deeply missed by his children: Sharon Terry; Karen (Rex) Taylor; Norman (Lori) Cagle; Brenda (Johnny) Houser; and nephew Terry Lee Greene. He cherished his role as Pop to his grandchildren: Jamie (Ben) Taylor; Jennifer (Michael) Marohn; Sarah (Jarrett) Snyder; Wesley (Brittany) Houser; Olivia (Jacob) Welden; Patrick (Madison) Cagle; Colton (Savannah) Cagle; and Kendal (Reese) Brewer. He was blessed with many great-grandchildren: Abbie (Caleb) Eslinger; Anna, Isaac, and Creek Taylor; Nora Marohn; Beckett and Hayeslei Houser; Colton and Cooper Cagle; Jasper Snyder; and Charlotte Welden. Brothers: Norman (Bettye) Cagle and Roy (Ila) Cagle; sister: Toye (Buford) Messer. He leaves behind many special friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will always remember him with a smile and a thumbs-up.
