Obituary
Mr. Lloyd Maurice Townsend, age 83, of Newport, passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 21, 2022 at Durham-Hensley Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam Era. He was an avid member of the East Tennessee Jeepers Club, and he truly enjoyed each adventure and the fellowship he shared with each of the members.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Elizabeth Townsend; parents and sisters Pat Walker and Jean Coble.
Survivors include his daughters Rebecca (Timothy) Wilson of Newport, and Tracey (Jeff) Jones of Talbott; grandchildren Shyann Wilson and Jacob Wilson both of Newport, Amanda Jones of Talbott and Corey (Samantha) Jones of Greeneville; sister Ruth (John) Campbell of Crossville; sister-in-law Joann Allen of Newport; brothers Jimmy (Sue) Townsend and Glenn (Sandy) Townsend all of Newport; Bill (Tammi) Hayward of Heath, OH and Johnny Townsend of Nashville and brother-in-law Dan Coble of Nashville. Additional survivors include several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the members of the East Tennessee Jeepers Club for their special care of Lloyd and their friendship.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00am at the Middle Creek Church of God, 1205 Sunset Gap Rd, Cosby, TN. 37722
