Obituary
Martha Kate Hicks, affectionately known as “Mamaw Biggin”, age 78 of Newport, passed away Friday, February 8, 2019.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Addie Kate Hicks; son, Steve Valentine; brothers, John Brown Hicks, Robert “J.C.” Hicks, Junior Hicks & Jimmy Hicks; sisters, Anna Mae Cole & Stella Allen.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Bridges & Linda Henderson (Dennis); sister, Virginia Shults; brother, George Ray Hicks (Jenny); granddaughter, Shannon Bridges (Chad Jarnagin); great-granddaughters, Kaytlyn & Sophia Thompson; and several nieces & nephews, including Betty Whitson, Rita Messer (Mike Compton), Chris Shepherd (Miranda), Cole, Krisley, Maliah, Easton, & Sawyer Shepherd; special friends Ashley, Tammy, & Gomer Gray, Cooper Harris, Rochelle Kyker, Judi Chobanian, Virginia Blazer, Kenny McMahan, Donna Mooneyham & Family, Rhonda Rice & Shayne Watts; Neighbors, Evelyn, Hannah Leatherwood & Cade, the ladies at Diana’s Beauty Shop, several friends, and her “grand-dog” Gracie.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Tennova North Knoxville Medical Center.
Receiving of friends will be held at Brown Funeral Home from 5PM to 7PM Wednesday, February 13, 2019. A memorial service will follow at 7PM.
