Mary Louise Edwards Taylor, age 83 of Newport, is now at rest.Following a lengthy, hard-fought battle with cancer, she departed this life on Friday, May 26, 2017.A beloved mother, exceptional grandmother, and devoted friend, she will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind. Meanwhile, her family takes great comfort in knowing that she is now pain-free and at peace, where she waits for them in Heaven.Daughter of the late Tom & Ethel Sweeten Edwards, Louise was born February 12, 1934 in Del Rio.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil W. "Buddy" Taylor; son, Robert F. Taylor; brother, Clyde Edwards; and brothers-in-law Freddy & Johnny Taylor and Larry Mitchell.Survivors include her children, Sharon Taylor-Manning (& husband, Dexter), and Terry Taylor (Theresa Mims); grandchildren, Nathan Manning (& wife, Jessica), and Taylor Manning (Taylor Bates).Mrs. Taylor is also survived by a large extended family, including brother-in-law Dan (& Wanda) Boley; sisters-in-law, Frances Edwards, Mary Jo Taylor, Maxine Taylor, Catherine Mitchell, & June (& Paul) Wines; nieces & nephews, Tim Edwards, Rose Edwards Gregg, Susan Taylor, Kim Ball, Kim Mitchell, Mark Mitchell, Marty Boley, Julie Boley Peach, & Bobby Verlene Gibson.The family wishes to recognize a close-knit group of special friends that Louise affectionately referred to as "The Friday Night Gang". This group would gather weekly at her home for meals and fellowship. Regular members included Sandra Hensley, Margaret Sorrell, Pat Hightower, Wanda Cates, Charlotte Ann Manning, Judy Butler, & Janey Kinser, among others.A receiving of friends will be held from 4PM to 7PM Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home. Pastor, and family friend, Dennis Caldwell will hold a graveside service at 2PM Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Union Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Celebrate Life Cancer Support Group, PO Box 263 - Newport, TN 37822Brown Funeral Home is honored to serve Mrs. Taylor's family.
