Michael Gerald Bowers, age 60, of Newport, passed away Monday, July 2, 2012 at Newport Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents Allen and Oma Bowers and brother Randy Lee Bowers.Survivors include his wife of 14 years Judy Bowers, sons Timothy Allen Bowers and Brian Kenneth Bowers, three grandchildren, brothers Terry Lynn Bowers (Gwen) of Kingsport, Bob Bowers of Winston-Salem, NC, Dennis Bowers, John Roger Bowers (Fiancé Rosie) all of Greeneville, sisters Pat Holt, Judy Haas (Bob) all of Winston-Salem, NC, Linda Spaugh (Home), Darlene Kiser (Johnny) all of Greeneville, two aunts, special niece Amy Clevenger, special friend Teresa Martin along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012 in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with Gary Shropshire officiating. Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2012 at Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.Brown Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bowers family.
