Mr. Orville "Dick" Hanson's Obituary
Mr. Orville “Dick” Hanson, age 81, was born on August 6, 1935 in West Virginia, passed away Wednesday morning, September 28, 2016 at his home.
Mr. Hanson attended church services at Greggs Chapel Church in Newport until he became physically unable to attend. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan in February 1992. He loved fishing and spending time outdoors. He was a wonderful husband, father, stepfather, step-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will always be loved and missed by everyone who was touched by his presence.
He was preceded in death by his parents Orville Patrick and Connie Tucker Hanson and a daughter Linda K. Hanson.
Survivors include his wife Bessie Hanson of the home; daughter Connie Kinder and a son Johnny Hanson both of Michigan; step children Becky (Lynn) Lane of Newport, Joanna (Jerry) Kirk of Midway and David Sneed of Evansville, Indiana; step grandchildren Brandon (Heather) Lane of Elizabethton, Jonathan (Lora) Kirk of Weston, West Virginia, Daeli Sneed of Evansville, Indiana and Elenia (Connor) Campbell of Bybee; step great grandchildren Anastasia Kirk of Weston, West Virginia, Christopher Campbell of Bybee and Nathan and Philip Nave both of Elizabethton; sisters Lorain (Dick) Reed of Brunswick, Ohio and Lora Rhodes of Michigan; brothers and sisters-in-law Kathleen (Hobert) Campbell, Ozell Ellison, Robert Wilson and John Hayes all of Bybee, Christine Hayes of Hot Springs, NC; Additional survivors include several nieces including special niece Linda Wilson of Bybee, nephews including special nephews Michael Campbell and Jeff Dunn both of Bybee and friends including special friends Dave (Pam) McPheeters, Jim Webber, Calvin Rooster and Randall Keller all of Newport, Bill Blasengym of Michigan and John and Millie McMahan.
The family wishes to express thanks to the Amedisys Home Health and Hospice Staff with a special thank you going to Amy and Kim.
A funeral service will be held 7:00 pm Friday evening, September 30, 2016 in the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Fred Gregg, Pastor Jonathan Kirk and Brandon Lane officiating. Mr. Hanson will be cremated after the funeral service
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pmFriday evening at Costner-Maloy prior to service.
