Mr. Perry Dwayne Mathis' Obituary
Mr. Perry Dwayne Mathis, age 53, of Newport, was born October 20, 1958. He passed away at his home Friday morning, September 7, 2012, following a lengthy illness.
He was a graduate of Cocke County High School, attended Walters State Community College, and was an employee of Detroit Gasket for more than twenty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Allene Mathis and brother Randall Mathis.
Survivors are his beloved sister and caregiver Phyllis Coggins of Parrottsville; brother Jack Mathis of Knoxville; special friend and caregiver Gloria Fite of Newport; Uncle Carroll and Aunt Vivian “Buddy” Taylor of Knoxville; Uncle Gene Laws of San Antonio, Texas; nieces Trina Coggins of Miami, FL; Shawna Murrell Coggins, and Nikki Coggins, both of Parrottsville; nephews Wayne Hazelwood and JoeMack Mathis, both of Newport; and a large extended family.
There will be a memorial service at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clint Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation, 325 Saint Andrews Drive, Franklin, TN 37069.
