Obituary
Philip Bingham Morgan, Sr, age 78, of Newport, TN, went to be with the Lord on April 17, 2017.He was born June 18, 1938 to Preacher C.M. and Dixie Morgan whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by several siblings including Zeb Morgan.He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Following his service in the military, he was a self-employed businessman. In recent years, he enjoyed raising Black Angus cattle and farming until his health declined. He was an active member in the Newport Lodge #234 for 50 years and was also proud to serve as a Shriner.He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 55 years, Wilma O'Dell Morgan, son, Phil Jr. and his wife Darla, his grandson, Philip Wayne Morgan , who brought him immeasurable joy, and a special grandson-of-the-heart, Hunter Clevenger all of Newport. He is also survived by Lou Barnes and family of Kodak, TN, sisters, Wylene Jacobs, Carolyn Morgan, and Sarah Shaver as well as many nieces and nephews including Richard Morgan.The family will receive friends Friday, April 21, 2017 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at WestEnd Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 7:00pm with Pastor Tom Mooty officiating. Entombment will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11:00am at Union Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to WestEnd Baptist Church, Celebrate Life, or Cruise Against Cancer.Brown Funeral Home is honored to serve the Morgan family.
