Mr. Robert Barnes' Obituary
Mr. Robert Barnes Sr. age 76, of Cosby, beloved husband, father, and brother passed away Sunday evening, September 16, 2012, at home surrounded by his family.
He was a member of Caney Creek Missionary Baptist Church and was employed by Greystone Lodge at the Aquarium. He was a United States Veteran.
He was preceded in death by Elaine Puli Barnes, parents Lloyd and Lora Forrester Barnes, brother Clifford Barnes, and sister Lucille Davis.
He is survived by his wife Lucille Mathis Barnes, of the home, children Vanessa and Ronnie Messer, Louneil and Billy Williams, all of Newport, David O’Dell of Knoxville, Karen and Buck Kelly, Robert Barnes Jr. and Tracy Helton, all of Newport, Lenora Barnes and Jan Palmer of Strawberry Plains, Debbie Barnes of Newport, Amanda and Casey Francis, and Tiffany Hill, all of Cosby, grandchildren Casey Williams of Knoxville, Cassidy Darnell of Greeneville, Joshua Barnes of Cosby, Jason Wood, Mirinda Barnes, Hailey Helton, and Cyara Williams, all of Newport, Hunter Francis, Kerstin Francis, Hailey Francis, and Arian Hill, all of cosby, great grandchildren Chloe Webb, Laicy Darnell, Lydia Darnell, Lexie Barnes, Chesnie Barnes, Ariana Webb, Brayden Owenby, Isabella Wilson, and Jalena Rose Wood. Sisters Ruby Shults, Voneda styles, Beulah and Richard Harer, all of Cosby, sisters-in-law Jeannie and Jay Naillon of Cosby and Louanne and Bruce Quick of Cleveland, TN. Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews, along with special ladies Kathleen O’Dell and Loretta Webb and special boss and friend George Green.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice, this allowed him to be home one more time before making his final journey. We also want to thank everyone for their prayers during this time.
The funeral service will be held at 8:00 pm Tuesday evening, September 18, 2012 in the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Fred Laws officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday evening at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home prior to the service.
