Mr. Robert Bruce Gunter's Obituary
Mr. Robert Bruce Gunter, age 78, of White Pine, Tennessee, passed away at his home Tuesday afternoon, March 29, 2022 surrounded by his loving family and Pastor Sonny Davis of Fernwood Baptist Church.
Bruce was born on April 21, 1943 to the late George Washington and Mabel Ramsey Gunter. He was raised and lived in the Parrottsville community and was a graduate of Parrottsville High School, where he played basketball and later was a coach there. Bruce married the love of his life and later moved to White Pine, where he raised his loving family. He was very interested in sports, loved being a coach to many and was a BIG VOL Fan. He enjoyed fishing with friends and was a faithful member of the Fernwood Baptist Church in Morristown. He was a big cut up and was loved by many. To know him was to love him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Sherman, Fred and A.J. Gunter and sisters Hazel Norton, Frances Cook, Zola Mae Jennings and Lola Fay Gunter,
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years Fayetta Shelton Gunter; daughter Vanassa J. Gunter and son Jody Bruce Gunter all of White Pine; granddaughters Cassie Bowman (Paul Smith) of Morristown and Tory P. Gunter of Baneberry; great grandson Lukas Kade Smith; sister Flora Hux of Parrottsville; brother-in-law Danny Shelton (Deborah) and sister-in-law Madge Williams (Billy). Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
The family would like to thank the staff of Amedisy Home Health and Hospice of Morristown for the excellent care they provided during his illness and also for the support that was shared by the members of Frenwood Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening, April 1, 2022 in the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sonny Davis and Bobby Kitts officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Faubion Cemetery for the 2:00 p.m. interment.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Costner-Maloy prior to the funeral service.
