The Sanford family is deeply saddened to share the news of his death on Sept. 6, 2024. Sanford was a well-known business man in Newport, TN and other states for more than 40 years. He was the owner of Family Inns for many of those years. He was also known as a man who loves his Yorkies.
He is preceded in death by his parents’ mother, Eyla Mae Arms Overhollt, father, Carl Lee Overholt Sr., sister Carless Keller, nephew Travis Overholt.
Survivors include wife Glenda Masters, daughter Lisa Overholt, grandson James Attley Gregory, brothers Darrell, Jimmy, and Carl Lee Overholt Jr., several nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal services per Sanford’s wishes. He chose cremation and his ashes will be dispersed by the family at a later date. Anyone so inclined may donate in Sanford’s memory to the City of Newport Animal Control located at 113 North Woodlawn Ave. Newport, TN.
