Sherman Gene Dorsey, age 80, of Dandridge, died Wednesday, April 26, 2017.Mr. Dorsey was born April 4, 1937, in Cocke County, to the late Ted and Lura Barnes Dorsey. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Dorsey and Tommy Dorsey, and sister, Dawn Garver.He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and then later worked as a bus driver for Greyhound Lines.He is survived by three daughters, Daresa Suddreth and fiancé, Dennis Willis of Vale, Lesa Perkins and husband, Allen of Lincolnton, and Tamra Rozsa, and fiancé Trujillano of Boiling Springs, SC, one brother, J.W. Dorsey of Newport, TN, two sisters, Rebecca Cureton and spouse Gary James of Newport, and Ella Dorsey McMahan of Greenville, NC, best friend and wife of 27 years, Jean Dorsey, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.The family will receive friends Friday, April 28, 2017 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Brown Funeral Home. Funeral service will Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2:00pm at Brown Funeral Home with burial following at Union Cemetery.The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.Brown Funeral Home is honored to serve the Dorsey family.
