Obituary
Mrs. Wanda Lucille (Ball) Self of Hot Springs, NC, gained her angel wings on her 89th birthday Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC
Lucille was a member of Hazel Green Baptist Church in Asheville, NC where she loved to play the piano and sing for the Lord. She enjoyed spending time with her family, growing flowers, and bird-watching. Her favorite bird was hummingbirds, that visited her year after year, for a drink of her special mixture in bird feeders she had in her yard.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, George Hurley (Squirrel) Self, Sr., her father and mother, Kervie and Delilah (McGaha) Ball, her brothers and sisters, Glenn, Dorothy, Roman, Lucinda, Wilse, Beulah, Alfred, Joe, Robert, and Johnnie.
She is survived by her children, Mike (Kathy) Self, Beverly (RD) Gunter, Linda Self, George (Karen) Self, Vonda (Mark) Holt, Lisa (Ray) Elkins, John (Leslie) Self. She was also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Death may have taken, Lucille, our mom, from us, but it cannot take our precious memories.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 12:30 pm in the chapel of Costner-Maloy & Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Self and Rev. Dakota Self officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm prior to service. Burial will take place in the Antioch Cemetery in Hot Springs, NC. following the service.
