I could write so much. We had so many talks about life. She loved her family and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She sacrificed a lot. I got to hear her say she was proud of me, that meant a lot to me. I’ve seen her leave work and go home and make a sandwich for a resident because they were hungry and we couldn’t get into the kitchen. I’ve seen her sit and hold many of a hand of a dying resident, console families, and console staff. She was our rock. She had unremarkable passion for what she did. She loved her resident and she loved her coworkers, she always helped and was always the first to volunteer. She was a work horse, she was my double buddy years ago. We worked many 16 hour shifts together. She always did what was right. We working a night shift and had stepped outside the corner door. No one but me and her, we witnessed and very difficult situation and we both looked at each other. She said did you see that and I said yes I did, she then said well you know what we have to do and said I’ll take the employee and you check the resident and start making the calls! She helped in making me the nurse I am today. I am grateful for the time we spent together and the friendship we had. You fought a good fight my friend and completed the race. Go rest high. I love you Deb “Sarge. Till we meet again, save me a walk.
